Date night at a Whiskey bar; OOTD

Date night. It looms around the corner with excitement and dread. I am excited to hit the town with my stud of a man, but WHAT TO WEAR!? A metallic shift dress!

I was really excited to head to San Diego’s Seven Grand whiskey bar in North Park last weekend. This place is THE spot if you want conversation, a young atmosphere and something a little different from the EDM clubs like Omnia. There’s a cigar patio, a separate sit down bar for only whiskey drinks, and bar with pool tables and a Beauty-and-Beast library of whiskey behind the bar.

A cool place like Seven Grand calls for a cool new dress and a don’t care attitude. The best part about this dress is that it was a complete impulse buy from Target the night before we went out. I noticed Target had moved all of their new years dresses and “holiday” apparel to clearance to make room for Summer clothes, so obviously I swooped in to try the out-of-season dresses on. This metallic foil print shift dress is subtle. It doesn’t show off my curves or highlight any of my womanly areas, it’s just fun. I opted to get it in a XXL since the slip built in to the dress was a bit narrower than I hoped.

Never be afraid to go up or down a size to get the fit you want!

These boots are also from Target, a gift from my boyfriend after he was unable to get me the Thigh-high Torrid boots for Christmas that I had wanted. At a quarter of the price, I would say these boots are a steal. Also, the wedge on them make it extremely easy to walk and wear almost anywhere. They aren’t even considered wide calf boots. The boots themselves have an elastic neoprene back that offer ample room to fit and stay up on the leg.

This outfit makes for a great date night and Valentines day look. You don’t need pink and red to say “this night is special.” Don’t be cliche this Vday. Just be your hot plus size, curvy, voluptuous self, even if it does call for a hot pink cutout dress.

  1. Love the outfit! Wish I knew about those boots! I’ve been looking everywhere for nice black boots that fit over my wide calfs!
