It has been such a crazy month. The boyfriend and I moved to a new city. My boyfriend graduated from college last week and our family was in town. I was in for a big surprise.
My boyfriend and I had been together for a long time. Much longer than your average couple that were also each other’s prom dates. We are high school sweet hearts. At 25, and 7 years into our relationship, we traveled to a different state. Both of us attended different colleges. We also pursued our professional careers together. We have really grown up together.
It’s amazing how much we’ve grown from the 17-year-old kids on a dance team to where we are now. He has never been one for planning, or elaborate shenanigans, so his whole engagement plan completely blew me out of the water.
My now fiance, gathered both my family and his family from Seattle, and even my grandma from Singapore, down in Southern California for his college graduation. Wanting to take photos after walking across the stage, we all went down to the Japanese bonsai garden where a photographer was waiting and he was standing on the bridge. My boyfriend’s friend grabs my purse from me and ushers me to move forward.
The love story of a plus size woman and her best friend:
I walk across the bridge and he grabs my hands, my heart automatically jumps into my throat. His sister even got a clip of me saying “I think I’m going to throw up” while he was asking me if I was nervous. It was probably one of the best days I’ve ever had. I can’t wait for what our future has in store for us.
Who ever honestly thinks that you can only find love and happiness as a skinny woman or a toned man, doesn’t understand love or attraction. Fat women do find love. Plus sized women can find people that see them more than their quantity of flesh. Curvy women are beautiful. Fat women are loved. Plus sized women get engaged. Curvy women get married. Fat women live happily ever after.
