Fall in Orange County is going to be new for me. But with a new place comes new clothes and shopping opportunities! My favorite little gem is Old Town Orange. If you took Stars Hallow from Gilmore Girls and plopped it into California, it would be Old Town Orange. There’s a fountain in the center where you can catch people playing music, reading or playing PokemonGo (yup the fountain is a gym).
Surrounding the micro park, are vintage stores galore! Seriously, so many vintage and antique shops (you know how I love my vintage stores). My childhood friend and her mother would go gaga for how many department-store-sized antique shops there are in Old Town Orange. They sell everything from furniture, to books, to brass door knockers and drawer knobs, down to horseshoes and toys. One of the antique shops even has a whole Disney section with merchandise from the parks and knickknacks taken from the different building sites.
Plus size in a small town
I can’t wait to experience this small town in the Fall time. I’m beyond prepared for it. A recent snapchat from a friend encouraged me to go check out ASOS for potential party dresses for the holidays. Yes, I am already considering what to wear for Christmas and New Years parties. Side note, I always scramble for what to wear and end up just going with whatever and secretly wishing I didn’t come out. Not this year. I ended up buying a really cute pink velvet wrap dress, but not without picking up a few other things along the way; such as this plus size plum pleather skirt.
I have now worn this skirt on 3 different occasions, both with booties, heals and *drum roll please* slip on sneakers! It’s super versatile and is longer than most skirts I wear so it gives me a bit more flexibility to move.
The pleather plum skirt is a size UK 18 and fits very well in the waist. It doesn’t pinch or cinch causing the rest of the skirt to bubble up around the butt area. I was tempted to find it in black, but thought a plum color would be versatile and equally stylish.
This skirt could work in the office with some flats and a flirty tie blouse or even with a slouchy t-shirt and some converse. I bet you will see more of this look, as well as more adventures from Old Town Orange and around my new home in Orange County.
