Luxury activewear & sequined gowns at OC Fashion Week 2017

Orange County Fashion Week (OCFW) was last week and your girl got front row access to see what some of America’s one percenters are coveting. OC’s Golden Coast is known for its million dollar mansions, convertible luxury cars making its way down PCH, and well sculpted residents. OC Fashion Week took couture and ready-to-wear fashion to a new level of elegance by showcasing designs in local art galleries.

The first night of runway shows was also day two of OCFW. We walked into the OC Art Museum in Newport Beach welcomed by glamorous fashion illustrations. I had only ever seen fashion illustrations on Instagram. To see them in person only made me realize how incomplete my house is without a fashion illustration of myself. Right? Everyone deserves to have their best outfits memorialize in a fashion illustration and framed on the wall of their vanity room.

The runway showcase for day two of OCFW was a evening of hot dads (aka DILFs, thank you Fodada!), luxury activewear, and casual ready-to-wear.

I’ve been to fashion shows in malls, on rooftops, and by the beach, but this is my first time at a fashion show in an art gallery. Kudos to OC Fashion Week for showcasing wearable art within art galleries. It really took the meaning of style and fashion home. It’s not just about what you wear but also the inspiration behind the clothes. Every piece of fast fashion comes from the inspiration of a trend set by a designer, an artist.

The third day of OCFW runway show saw the introduction of some of the most gorgeous gowns and two-piece crop and skirt sets. I kid you not, guys, I think I found my future wedding dress. The finale look by Mexico’s celebrity designer Saul Lizacri gave me life! The rose colored beaded gown with the attached cape was enough to make me go “I need to wear that for my wedding.”

Now, for the non-wedding queen that I am, Berenice Gonzalez is everything I am about. If Berenice wanted a plus size ambassador for her collection, she could make me all of the full skirts she wanted. I also loved that she included kids in her runway show. Mini queens deserve some spotlight.

Orange County is more than face lifts, Lamborghinis, yacht clubs, and golf greens. OC is also an up and coming hub for fashion. Watch out Los Angeles! Sophisticated and wearable art is the reason why OC Fashion Week is one to watch.
